It’s been an eventful period for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. The Merseyside club have enjoyed success under the reign of the German tactician. He took them from a barren period where Liverpool were once-great to mounting the high pedestal of true champions.
Liverpool have become challengers again in England and Europe, while their eternal rivals Manchester United, have slipped into the doldrums of mediocrity. The Red Devils seem to have swapped places with Liverpool. Despite the successes achieved by Liverpool, it can still be called a growing concern, as shown by the titles won in the last couple of years.
Despite always challenging for titles, Liverpool have not been consistent in winning them, and that should be the next level for the club. Liverpool should not be satisfied with a league title in the last ten years. They haved to earn the respect of their peers, but more needs to be done.
There has been a fear of a future without Jurgen Klopp for Liverpool. With the German’s contract running to a conclusion, the Reds wondered who would take them to the next level. Klopp has laid those fears to rest by signing a contract extension with the club.
No longer will Liverpool be looked at with disrespect. The aura that made them one of the most feared clubs in Europe is back.
The architect of their current success is Jurgen Klopp. The German came in with the club under a veil of underachievement but has taken time to rebuild the side and take them back to their glory days. There were fears the German would leave at the end of his current contract. The Kop can relax and breathe again as the German has handed Liverpool a massive boost. News emerged that the 54-year-old signed an extension to his contract.
The German gaffer was due to leave Anfield at the expiration of his contract in 2024. There had been speculations concerning his future, with fears he wanted to take a break from football. Jurgen Klopp has signed a new deal that would keep him at the club until 2026.
Speaking with Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp described his feeling about his contract extension. According to the German, he is delighted, humbled, blessed, privileged and excited. Klopp admitted his relationship with Liverpool is healthy. The German said that any healthy relationship is a two-way street, and that is what he is enjoying at Liverpool.
Jurgen is the man who arrived at Anfield and exorcized the demons of past years. He led Liverpool to their first league title in 30 years. It was a massive achievement that made him a club legend.
In the six and half years he has been at Merseyside, he has won several trophies for Liverpool. The titles include a Premier League, a Champions League triumph and three other trophies (Carabao Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup). The latest trophy in his cabinet is the Carabao Cup. Bookmakers have Liverpool as favourites as Klopp is also in line to win his first FA Cup when the Reds take on Chelsea in the final next month.
