Jesse Lingard set to leave Manchester United

The Englishman is now prepared to run out his contract that expires in the summer before leaving Old Trafford.

Jesse Lingard’s future is in the balance as the player has refused to extend his contract that expires in the summer with the Red Devils. The player seems keen on leaving Old Trafford.

Manchester United gaffer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is famed with top man-management skills, but it seems the facade is unravelling in a very peculiar way. Recent events indicate that the Norwegian may have lost the dressing room with the number of unhappy players.

The previous manager Jose Mourinho had a hard time for his tough disciplinary stance as he tried to whip the players into shape. Several players were openly against his tough stance, but the Portuguese was proven right about the players. Ole arrived with a facade of smiles and mollycoddling of the players. What Ole’s style has achieved is a dressing room that is quietly unhappy with the manager.

Several players are keen to jump ship as they have seen limited game time as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to rotate the squad. With Ole still in charge, players like Donny van de Beek, Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles are open to leaving the club, with Jesse Lingard the latest player desiring an exit.

Jesse Lingard desires an exit from Old Trafford

Last season, Jesse Lingard left Manchester United for a loan spell at West Ham United. Ole showed he is a manager who didn’t know how to rotate and get the best out of his squad, prompting Lingard to leave. He needed game time to keep his place in the English national team.

Lingard had a fantastic loan spell under David Moyes, where he scored nine goals and provided four assists from 16 games. He believed that his performance at West Ham was enough to get him a regular berth at Old Trafford, but after promises from Solskjaer, it turned out the Norwegian lied and now Lingard wants out.

Without a chance to fight for his place and a bid from West Ham rejected, Lingard accepts Old Trafford holds no future for him, especially under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The player was in talks with the club over a new deal, but it seems it has broken down, and The Times reports that Lingard is prepared to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Lingard is not valued at United

Lingard has a history with Manchester United, having represented the club at all levels. The 28-year-old came through the youth academy, but it seems his run with United has reached full tilt.

The Englishman has not been shown enough respect despite his contributions to the team.

The first contract put on the table by Manchester United as discussions kicked off was reportedly less than his current salary, indicating how much value the team places in him.

West Ham still hold an interest in him despite their £30 million summer purchase of Nikola Vlasic.
