Certain clubs are known for nurturing talents and are seen as a supermarket. When the players mature, richer clubs show up to poach them. However, some clubs are notorious for being tough to buy from.

Borussia Dortmund is a club that knows they will lose some of their top stars but milk it for all its worth.

Some stars who have made their way out of Dortmund include Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Nuri Sahin, Robert Lewandowski and Jadon Sancho. Despite these high profile departures, the club keeps the talent mill running.

Erling Haaland has been the target for many clubs, but another player within their ranks has been attracting attention, especially in England. Jude Bellingham is a player that the top clubs in his native England currently covet, and Dortmund has resigned to losing the player but will not let him go on the cheap.

Bellingham: Wanted in England

Jurgen Klopp has an eye on his former club Borussia Dortmund with the German looking to poach one of its prized assets. Klopp has been a huge admirer of Jude Bellingham and has shown interest in bringing him to Anfield.

The former Birmingham City player is wanted in England with a few other clubs interested in his services, but Liverpool may have jumped ahead of the queue to snap the 18-year-old. Bellingham has enjoyed a fantastic season thus far, having featured in every Dortmund Bundesliga and Champions League tie this season.

Dortmund is under no pressure to sell the player that joined the club in the summer of 2020 for a £25 million fee. The move to Dortmund made him the most expensive 17-year-old.

Dortmund to repeat Sancho trick

Prising Bellingham from Dortmund will not be an easy trick, especially with the German club not willing to part away with their prized asset.

To fend off the advances of Jurgen Klopp, Dortmund have decided to pull off the same trick used against Manchester United in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho. The club has slapped a price tag that should be inhibiting for Liverpool and hopes it does the trick.

Bellingham now carries a price tag of £101 million and Dortmund believe it is a price that Liverpool will find hard to meet.

According to German publication Bild, Dortmund will not allow the player to leave for anything less than the stated amount.

This was the same tactic Dortmund applied when Manchester United came calling for Jadon Sancho. United’s interest in Sancho was finally made possible a year after their first attempt to sign him at a cut-price of £75 million.

Dortmund expects the trick will keep Liverpool at bay. Should Liverpool insist on the transfer at the stated price, it would make Bellingham Liverpool’s most expensive player ahead of Virgil Van Dijk, who joined Liverpool for £75 million.
