The hope of achieving a top-four place and playing in the Champions League is high, and Arteta wants to achieve this. The Spaniard is looking to bolster his squad to qualify for Champions League next season.
Arteta sees Youri Tielemans as apt for Arsenal and wants to bring the Belgian to the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta has steered Arsenal up the Premier League ladder, with the chance of finishing in a Champions League place a realistic prospect. The Spaniard wants to bolster his squad to brighten the Gunners chances of featuring in the Champions League next season.
Competition for top-four is high. It is why Arteta wants to bring Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans to the Emirates. Arsenal is serious about its intentions and has already had a meeting with the reps of the Belgian.
Tielemans scored a beauty for Leicester City in last season’s FA Cup final against Chelsea has attracted interest from other clubs, and Arsenal is moving quickly to secure the midfielder to avoid a bidding war.
Tielemans has 18 months to run on his contract, making him a free agent in January 2023. Leicester want to keep Tielemans at the King Power Stadium, but talks with the player and his agent have not yielded dividends. The Belgian wants to play Champions League football, something Leicester City has not offered.
Goal reports that Arsenal have had Tielemans on their radar for a while. They are just now concluding plans to make a bid for the Belgian.
The latest report claims that Tielemans camp have already met with Arsenal big wigs at their training ground as talks for a move speeds up.
Tielemans hasd to consider his future with Leicester City as he dreams of playing in the Champions League. Arsenal are not the only club interested in signing the Belgian, as Liverpool have also shown interest in the midfielder.
With reports swirling around the midfielder and an impending move away from the King Power Stadium, Leicester City have had to stave off those reports. Brendan Rodgers last year denied reports Tielemans turned down a new contract offer.
Rodgers claimed contact between the club and Youri’s camp, but they have yet to revert on the discussions. According to Rodgers, it is simply out of his control.
Elsewhere, Arsenal are also working on a loan deal for Arthur Melo from Juventus.
