According to the UK tabloid, The Sun, the interest indicated by Cristiano Ronaldo in a summer transfer to Paris St Germain has given the club every reason to be optimistic about the upcoming season. Ronaldo, along with the possibility of acquiring Raphael Varane on a free transfer from Real Madrid, could set the French side on course for a massive season.
The Portuguese superstar is presently in his third season at Juventus, which also happens to be his most disappointing season since moving to Turin from Real Madrid in 2012. Even though they won the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana, Juventus failed to win the Serie A championship, which went the way of Inter Milan spearheaded by the mercurial Romelu Lukaku. Ronaldo, however, did win the Golden Boot award for his efforts last season.
Surpassed all his expectations
Cristiano Ronaldo, the former Real Madrid star, has allegedly said that he has surpassed all of his expectations since joining Juventus from Real Madrid in the summer of 2014. This includes scoring 100 or more goals in only 133 games, an impressive feat no matter which league you are featuring in. While his contract with Juventus ends next summer, the 36-year-old has reportedly begun looking into his options outside of the club as a consequence of Juventus' inability to win the Champions League last season.
The interest from PSG would not come as a complete surprise to any potential suitors, especially given the rumours of a return to Manchester United or Real Madrid. The possibility exists that Ronaldo would take PSG's offer seriously since it would give him anal opportunity to demonstrate his abilities in yet another competitive European league.
Additionally, the Parisian dynasty had already strengthened its core with an incredible goalkeeper, which makes PSG’s future very tempting for any player. This will also create the opportunity for him to win even more silverware to add to his already impressive selection.
Ronaldo is one of the most well-known players across the globe and in all the premier European leagues, as well as one of the most well-known and recognisable athletes in the world. Playing at PSG will also allow him to line up with arguably one of his successors in the form of Kylian Mbappe. However, Mbappe's current contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in just over a year, and the French club has yet to agree on a new deal for the 22-year-old forward. The French are contemplating Ronaldo as a potential replacement if Mbappe does not sign that contract extension.
