The German club wants to take Callum Hudson Odoi but need to convince Tuchel he’s better off at Dortmund than Chelsea.

Young players at big clubs always find it tough when they have to compete with established players. Many of these players often derail by remaining at the club and getting little or no game time.

For the big club, it amounts to a waste of investment. The player gets farmed out to gain the required experience that comes from regular game time.

The high cost of getting established players in the current market has driven many big clubs to scout for young talented players. They give them the required exposure before assimilating them into the team.

Except the player is a youthful Messi, Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland, walking into a top club and snapping up a regular shirt is a tall task.

Dortmund in for Odoi

Borussia Dortmund is perhaps the best club in the world for a young player. With regular playing time, quality coaching and exposure to the biggest competitions, it comes no better than that.

The German club is famous for taking youngsters and nurturing them into world-acclaimed stars. The club history is replete with players who have grown from boys to men. Players like Marco Reus, Lars Ricken, Nuri Sahin, Mario Gotze and Michael Zorc were youngsters who became genuine world stars.

Callum Hudson Odoi is a person of interest for Dortmund. They believe they can nurture the 20-year-old to be a world-beater as they have done with other players in the past.

With the cash crunch created by the Covid-19 pandemic, the club is looking to take the Chelsea youngster on loan.

Tuchel holds the joker in the pack

Thomas Tuchel stands between Odoi and a loan move to Dortmund.  As per Daily Mail, the Chelsea gaffer is weighing the offer before him before signing off on the deal. Time is of the essence, and with the transfer window shutting at midnight Tuesday, the coach knows he has to make a quick decision.

Tuchel opines that the player will add value to his squad but knows that competition for places is stiff and that Odoi is not a guaranteedr. The player is keen for more game time and may tilt towards leaving the club to get that.

Tuchel will hold discussions with the player before making a final decision on whether to let the player go.

Interest in Odoi had come in the past, with Chelsea turning it down. Bayern Munich was interested in the player last summer but met a brick wall in Chelsea.

With the array of attacking talent under Tuchel’s disposal, he might now genuinely consider letting the youngster leave on the short term at least.
