Sale of Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin being considered by Everton

Sports journalist and Times writer Duncan Castles has intimated on his Transfer Window podcast that Everton Football Club is open to the possible sale of Brasilian Richarlison and England International Dominic Calvert-Lewin. It is believed that the main reason behind it is the financial constraints within the club.

Two prized assets

The Times writer described Everton’s “comfortable” attitude about potential exits and the calculated decision the club is thinking about making concerning their two prized assets. The possibility of Richarlison moving to a more forward-thinking club is appealing to his agent, who has been on the lookout for chances to reposition him.

Everybody at Everton is aware of this, as the main reason he remained at Everton last season was because of Carlo Ancelotti. The club is suggesting that if a good offer comes in for him, then they will consider accepting it, as his form last season was decidedly indifferent.

Last season - Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison

It is widely believed at Everton that Calvert-Lewin is an invaluable asset, whose last season performances catapulted him into the forefront of not only the Premier Leagues leading lights but also saw him as a regular on the international front.

Calvert-Lewin was our standout performer last season, scoring 16 Premier League goals, while Richarlison has been a consistent threat to opposing defences since his 2018 transfer from Watford, even if he does go through periods when he seems to be a step or two behind the game at times.

Replacing Ancelotti – Board dithering with replacement

A critical decision regarding the future of both these players, as well as the future of James Rodriguez, the only other well-known name in the Everton attacking three, will be who the next Everton manager will be. Meanwhile, the Italian is busy with filling his centre-back.

The Board at Goodison Park has been debating the virtues of many candidates, some who will be well received by supporters and some who will not. The Board has to make the correct decision with Ancelotti’s sudden departure, as not only will it go a long way in determining the destination of those players for next season, but also Everton’s finishing league position when the season ends.
