Los Blancos are willing to use Eden Hazard as a sweetener in the deal, with the Belgian down the pecking order at Madrid.
Life has been sweet for Real Madrid’s Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti. He has somehow managed to get his squad playing well and churning out results every week. Real Madrid sit top of the La Liga table and are into the UEFA Champions League round of 16, where they will play Ancelotti’s former side Paris Saint-Germain.
It hasn’t been smooth sailing as there have been a few chinks in the armour with Ancelotti having to find solutions to the problems.
Real Madrid have some players considered as deadweight and are keen to offload them. While they work the market to seek out takers for these players, they also want to bolster certain areas in the team.
Aside from the well-publicized pursuit of Kylian Mbappe, another player that has popped up on their radar is Chelsea full-back Reece James.
There have been times this season when Real Madrid have had to call on academy players to fill up the squad. While Ancelotti has declared satisfaction with what he has, the right-back remains a problematic area.
Los Blancos currently have only one player as a recognised right-back. Dani Carvajal returned from a long injury-induced absence this season but has missed a couple of games, with Lucas Vazquez filling in for him at times.
The Spanish giants are looking to bring in a player that will give Carvajal competition and want Chelsea star, Reece James. The Sun confirm the interest in the player but reports the challenge Real Madrid faces to convince James to swap blue for white.
Real Madrid are ready to spend over £50 million to land the England international and are willing to add former Chelsea star Eden Hazard as a sweetener to the deal.
Eden Hazard was a marquee signing for Real Madrid, who snared the Belgian from Chelsea for £90 million. The dream transfer has proved anything but a dream.
Hazard has suffered several injuries since he arrived at Real Madrid. He has failed to score in 14 appearances this season. Much was expected of Hazard, but he has dropped down the pecking order.
Roman Abramovich had tried to lure the Belgian back to the English capital. It could now happen as Real Madrid are ready to offload the massive wages that Hazard commands off its books. Los Blancos want to use Hazard as a softener to land James.
James has scored five goals and six assists as a right wing-back this season. Real Madrid is swooning at these stats and is willing to move for the player.
Los Blancos, however, understand that it is a long shot to bring the 22-year-old to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu but are willing to give it a try.
