Mbappe is keen on a move away from the Parc des Princes after refusing a contract renewal.

The feinting, shadow boxing, prancing and dancing all over the place is over, and finally, Real Madrid have stepped into the ring in their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe.

Real Madrid have fired the first salvo in their quest to bring the mercurial and prodigiously talented Mbappe to the Spanish capital by submitting a mega bid for the PSG player.

According to Sky Sports, a bid for Kylian Mbappe has reportedly been received by Paris Saint-Germain. The offer reportedly came in on Sunday. The €160 million bid came in from Real Madrid for the services of Kylian Mbappe. The report also claims that the Parisian giants are likely to rebuff the offer.

The offer is said to be the first of the skirmish for the signature of Mbappe in a transfer saga that will run through the last days of the current transfer window.

AL Khelaifi driven to build a super team

While the contract saga involving PSG and Mbappe raged on, the club president Al Khelaifi boasted that they were not a selling club and that Mbappe would sign and remain at the capital club for many more years.

The cocky declaration probably stemmed from a belief that money rules the game. Mbappe has, however, shown that it’s not all about money as he has rejected several renewal offers.

The arrival of Messi, Sergio Ramos and Donnarumma has done little to convince the French star that he is valued and that the team was ripe for European conquest.

Probably Mbappe knows that this is his last opportunity to leave the club to fulfil his boyhood dream of playing for Real Madrid.

Madrid are hopeful of making the move

A few weeks ago, German midfielder Toni Kroos hinted at a French player joining Real Madrid. While coach Carlo Ancelotti has remained focussed on his team, the palpable excitement at the club cannot be missed.

The club is hopeful of bringing the 22-year-old forward to the Santiago Bernabeu. With under a week to the close of the transfer window, Florentino Perez has to work a miracle to bring the star to Madrid.

Real Madrid have maintained a professional approach in the Mbappe pursuit, with none of their staff making public statements concerning the player. It seems like the respectful approach will continue till the end of the summer transfer window.

Mbappe wants a Real Madrid move

Real Madrid’s quest for Mbappe is buoyed by the player’s desire to leave the French club and the fact that he has refused to sign a contract extension.

The confidence PSG retained in keeping him is eroding, and they are faced with the predicament of whether to accept the Madrid offer or keep the player and let him go for free next summer.

ESPN’s Julien Laurens further claims that PSG don’t want to sell the player and have effectively turned down the offer from Real Madrid. However, they now have a tough decision to make before the transfer window ends.
