PSG are furious at Real Madrid after efforts to convince Mbappe to stay in France failed.

When Jose Mourinho talked about football heritage, many probably failed to understand. Paris Saint Germain is one club that perfectly understands what the statement means.

Last season, Real Madrid respectfully made a bid for Kylian Mbappe. They sought to bring the player they longed for to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but PSG rejected it. Real Madrid returned to the capital with Eduardo Camavinga, confident that they would eventually get their man.

PSG tried to convince the World Cup winner to renew and remain in the French capital, but the allure of playing for the biggest club in football history proved too strong to refuse. Recent reports suggest that Kylian Mbappe has agreed to join Real Madrid. In Mourinho’s words, this is football heritage.

Real Madrid finally get their target

It is rare for Real Madrid to fail to get their man. Florentino Perez is famed for the Galactico policy, and the Real Madrid president has struck again.

The pursuit of Kylian Mbappe by Perez is well-documented, with the 23-year-old the only player in the world that can assuage his thirst for a galactico. According to a report in Germany, the Paris Saint-Germain star has agreed to join Los Blancos at the end of the season.

German outlet Bild revealed that Mbappe has agreed to join Los Blancos when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Details of the deal

According to Bild, Mbappe will join Los Blancos as a free agent and pocket a princely sum of £41.5m per year in wages.

Real Madrid made two bids in the summer for the forward, but PSG turned down the bids, with the second a £154 million offer for Mbappe. PSG harboured the hopes that a more lucrative offer would convince the French star to remain at the Parc des Princes.

The report by Bild suggests that the top brass at PSG have failed to make a convincing case to Mbappe. It’s not all about the money.

Anger at Parc des Princes

The pursuit of Mbappe has been known for a long time, and the player’s interest in playing for Los Blancos is not a secret.

PSG are not amused with developments and have not refrained from showing their angst. In August, PSG sportingctor Leonardo accused Real Madrid of illegal behaviour. He accused the Spanish club of makingct contact with Mbappe.

PSG want to become the new powerhouse of European football with an obsession to win the Champions League that has so far eluded them. Even with Neymar and Lionel Messi in their ranks, PSG remains angry at losing their prize jewel.

The World Cup-winning striker moved to PSG initially on loan from Monaco in 2017, where he has gone on to elevate his game to even greater heights.

The World Cup star joined PSG on loan from Monaco in 2017. The loan move later turned to a £166m permanent move, where he has scored 151 goals in 199 games and has 77 assists.
