As earlier mentioned, the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United is one that has caused so much buzz all over. Following his announcement, the club's website crashed simply because there were too many visits in such a short time. If that wasn't enough, his new no '7' jersey sold out in mere minutes after the official release.

Of course, that is good news for the club but what does it mean for some players? It's definitely not good news if you're Anthony Martial.

Just yesterday, we reported about Edinson Cavani dropping down the pecking order at United. It has now emerged that a similar fate has befallen Martial.

A report by the Mirror details the Frenchman's current situation and what the future could hold for him at the club, if there's any.

The situation with Martial

If things took a different turn, Anthony Martial might have left Manchester United this summer. He was subject to interest from the likes of PSG and Juventus on deadline day. However, none of that materialized to anything concrete.

Dating back to 2019, the Frenchman was deemed as 'untouchable' by the Glazer family in 2019. United's then-manager Jose Mourinho wanted to sell the forward and move for Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic. However, the club thwarted the move and decided to keep faith in the youngster. They also gave him a new deal, with an improved 200,000 per week wages at the time.

That faith has not yielded many proceeds so far, with Martial struggling to deliver in front of goal, alongside recurring injury problems.

If game time was hard to come by before, it gets even harder for the forward with Cristiano Ronaldo now in the mix. The current situation now means United might have been forced to change their stance on the 'golden boy' they signed from Monaco back in 2015.

United now open to selling the forward

The latest report now details that Manchester United no longer see the player as overly important and they wouldn't mind selling him if a decent offer comes through. This piece of news could put clubs on red alert as Martial will still come off as a wanted man in the transfer market.

No one can fault Manchester United for taking the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo but such a move could come with domino effects and Martial might be one of the affected names.

The 25-year-old still has three years left on his current deal but United could now strongly consider selling him if a decent offer comes in.
