Arsenal has been on a serious recruitment drive for next season. They have already been linked to numerous midfielders, as well as English defender Ben White in this transfer window. They are in a continuous search for that elusive midfielder that will provide that drive in the midfield, and have targeted Albert Sambi Lokonga, according to reports. The Gunners are seeking to sign the Belgian from Anderlecht after having an initial bid rejected last week.
Arsenal is planning a revised offer for Anderlecht midfielder after the initial offer was rejected, but Arsenal reportedly 'agreeing terms' with the 21-year-old Belgian international. Despite making a first offer for the box-to-box midfielder, the player, who is valued at about £13 million, was rejected by the Belgian giants. According to Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad, Arsenal is said to be preparing an improved offer of £14 million, with an additional £3 million in add-ons.
Michael Arteta is seeking to improve his options in the center of the park after Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard's loan agreements from Real Madrid came to an end last month, with the duo seeming not impressing enough last season to make the moves permanent.
It is also expected that Grenit Xhaka will leave North London, as Jose Mourinho's Roma has now contacted the player to try and finalise an agreement to bring the Swiss international to Italy.
This summer, the Emirates boardroom, which has targeted numerous players to improve their squad, is also interested in signing Brussels-born Lokonga. He played for Anderlecht last season in the Juliper Pro League and has unlimited potential and has displayed good leadership qualities in his appearances last season.
With 27 appearances in the league during the most recent season, the energetic midfielder, who typically plays in a defensive position before moving the ball forward, scored two goals and had three assists.
