The Spanish football team manager, Luis Enrique, describes Pedri as the force that will drive the Spanish central midfield at the international level for the next decade. He adds that he will step into the shoes of great Spanish Iniesta, as the fulcrum around which the rest of the team will revolve.

Joined Barcelona from Las Palmas

He joined Barcelona from Las Palmas for a paltry €5 million on a five-year deal that would increase as certain clauses in his contract were fulfilled. His full name is Pedro González López, known by the nickname of Pedri. The 18-year-old prodigy, who plays in Spain's midfield, has progressed so rapidly that he is now one of the rising stars of the Spanish International team.

Liverpool want to take advantage of financial difficulties

According to ESPN, Liverpool is considering a spectacular move for the Barcelona star. Pedri, a Barcelona prodigy, has been linked to the Reds in recent weeks. The teenager has been in superb form for Spain at EURO 2020, and even though they were unable to advance to the finals, the Barcelona starlet was brilliant in the matches that he played in.

Following the departure of midfield powerhouse Gini Wijnaldum to PSG on a free transfer, Liverpool is seeking to add a midfielder to their already illustrious array of players this summer. The Dutchman was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, but he ultimately chose to join Paris Saint-Germain after negotiations broke down with the Spanish giants.

Barcelona should think carefully about this decision

It is widely known that Barcelona is in a difficult financial position. Despite these problems, ESPN's Barcelona reporter Samuel Marsden does not agree that the club should consider selling one of the best young players on its books at the moment, just to improve its finances.

He added that as much as he does not think they should sell, he understands that they are struggling financially, and therefore, massively important decisions have to be made with regard to the Spaniard's future at the club. Pedri has the youth, so time is on his side. He also has the skills to be a future superstar, and hence the price Barcelona will be looking for will be an eye-watering £100 million for his services.

Barcelona wants Pedri to remain at their club. However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp understands the financial difficulties that Barcelona currently finds itself in. To this end, if Barcelona decides that they want to sell, Liverpool will hope that the two clubs will be able to mediate a healthy compromise for the Spanish superstar of the future.
