The Olympics Takes the Top Spot
The Olympics takes the top spot as the world's most 'pinned' sports trip, achieving an impressive 117,555 total pins and boards across related travel searches on Pinterest. From exploring the host city to planning the complete Games experience, the findings suggest the Olympics is inspiring more Pinterest travel planning than any other event analysed.
Coming in second is the Super Bowl, with 115,925 total pins and boards, meaning the American football spectacular falls just 1,630 pins behind the Olympics. With a gap of less than 2%, it is the closest result at the top of the ranking, suggesting that the annual American football final has become a bucket-list trip in its own right, rather than simply a one-night sporting fixture.
For fans looking to combine their love of sport with a trip abroad, Formula 1 takes third place with 34,012 total pins and boards. With races taking place across destinations around the world, following Formula 1 can offer fans the opportunity to combine a race weekend with a wider trip, whether that means visiting a famous circuit or exploring the host destination.
The Tour de France takes fourth place, recording 17,416 total pins and boards, while the FIFA World Cup rounds out the top five with 5,241. Wimbledon follows in sixth with 4,233, with the Monaco Grand Prix taking seventh place with 3,527.
Further down the ranking, The Masters Golf records 2,415 total pins and boards, while the NBA Finals and Champions League record 699 and 556 respectively.
The findings reveal which major sporting events are inspiring the most travel interest on Pinterest, with the Olympics and Super Bowl emerging as the clear frontrunners. From global sporting spectacles and international tournaments to racing events and historic championships, the ranking highlights the competitions fans are most keen to search, save and experience in person.

Why Fans Travel For Sport
Mert Feyzioglu, Sports Analyst at Betpack, explains why certain sporting events have such a strong international pull and what makes fans willing to travel long distances to attend them:
"Sports tourism gives fans the opportunity to turn their passion for a particular competition into a much bigger experience. Rather than simply watching an event from home, travelling to attend it allows supporters to be part of the atmosphere, experience the occasion alongside other fans and create memories around a sporting moment they may have followed for years.
"Major sporting events can also offer something that goes beyond the competition itself. The destination, the build-up to the event and the wider atmosphere can all become part of the trip, making the sporting event a reason to visit somewhere that fans may not otherwise have travelled to. This is particularly true for events that take place in different locations around the world, such as Formula 1, where the host destination becomes part of the overall experience.
"The biggest competitions also have the advantage of attracting audiences well beyond their home markets. Events such as the Olympics and Super Bowl have developed into major international occasions, bringing together fans from different countries and creating a sense that being there in person is something worth travelling for. The Pinterest results reflect this, with the Olympics and Super Bowl standing out as the two most 'pinned' sports trips in the ranking."
